Description
Summary:Abstract:

SHARON®- Anammox® technology are the newest technology for the wastewater treatment that contain high concentration of ammonia. This process can treat wastewater with ammonia concentration up to 2000 ppm, meanwhile the conventional process can only treat wastewater with concentration of nitrogen under 200 ppm. But, this process has never been used to treat wastewater that contain urea with high concentration.

The purposes of this research were to learn biodegradation of urea in SHARON® reactor with special objective, to get the highest conversion of urea, to examine the influence of operating parameters, HRT (Hydraulic Retention Time) and pH, and then perform modeling by using the result of this research. This research was started with the inoculating the microbe, which that obtained from the mud of rice field. The experiments were done in a continuous stirred tank reactor, with a volume of 10 liter.

In this experiments, the temperature was kept constant at 35 °C. The experiments variables were HRT and pH (by taking the secondary data). Analysis were TKN, ammonia concentration, nitrite, nitrate and MLSS analysis.
The result of this research showed that the longer HRT, the higher urea conversion. At HRT of 1,3; 1; and 0,8 day, the biodegradation of urea in
