Description
Summary:Video conferencing is one method of communication which has grown popular along with global increase in internet usage, and has become a popular topic in regards to its potential for the field of education. One such potential aspect of video conferencing use lies in the standardization of education in rural areas. Nevertheless, video conferencing still has several limitations; for instance, the interactions it transmits are limited by the camera’s field of view, and therefore limits the movement space of the user. This problem can be solved through the usage of face tracking, which in the designed system combines the algorithm of Viola and Jones for face detection and CAMShift for object tracking, respectively. The resulting system is able to detect and follow the movements of a user’s face, which when combined with a video conferencing system makes for a more dynamic communication process. The system is divided into two major subsystems, which are the object tracking subsystem and the WebRTC-based video conferencing system. The implementation includes fulfilling both functional as well as non-functional requirements, as well as integration of the two subsystems. Testing of the system shows that the system manages to fulfill the expected requirements, with a resource usage below the specified limit.
