Description
Summary:Crab, especially the type of scylla spp (or better known as the type of mud crab) is the most common type of crab found in Indonesia with a minimum amount of waste of 1000 tons per year. However, until now it is still rare to process crab shells as a functional product, where it is recorded that only 1/3 of the waste is processed and even then crushed as a mixture of drugs or cosmetics. This is quite unfortunate because when seen from its uniform characteristics with other more popular shells such as crab shells, it should have the potential to be processed. This study discusses the characteristics and results of experiments using acid, with a product design approach, which resulted to be a lamp. The output is expected to be an alternative for processed innovations that can be utilized so that the number of crab shell waste is reduced.
