Description
Summary:Nanoparticles are widely used in various aspects for research development. One of the nanoparticles that are widely produced is iron nanoparticles. Iron nanoparticles have various applications especially for environmental remediation. Iron nanoparticles are generally synthesized using physical and chemical methods. However, this method requires high energy and is quite expensive. In addition, this method has a negative impact to environment and humans because it produces hazardous waste that requires further handling. Therefore, another alternative is needed to overcome this problem, namely synthesis using environmentally friendly biological agents or commonly called biosynthesis. The most commonly used biological agents are plant extracts because they are easy to obtain and the extraction process is quite simple and fast. However, studies related to the effect of parameters in biosynthesis process of iron nanoparticles using plant extracts have not been widely carried out so it is hoped that this research can help further research on biosynthesis of iron nanoparticles. The method used in this research is literature review. The research begins with the collection of various sources related to iron nanoparticles, the synthesis process of iron nanoparticles, characterization, and the application of iron nanoparticles. In addition, a collection of sources was carried out that reviewed the effect of parameters in the biosynthetic process of iron nanoparticles using plant extracts to be analyzed and used as a core review. The parameters reviewed were the concentration of iron precursors, volume of plant extracts, pH and temperature. Then a conclusion is drawn from the results of the analysis carried out so that the goal is achieved. The results of the review show that the variations of the various parameters discussed have an influence on the quality of iron nanoparticles produced by biosynthesis process. Those parameters affect the form, size, quantity, stability, and reactivity of iron nanoparticle. From the literature review, the optimal conditions for biosynthesis of iron nanoparticle using plant extract as reducing agent were solution pH of between 6 to 9, volume ratio of iron precursor and plant extract of 1:2, precursor concentration of 0,1 M, and temperature synthesis of 70 ?C.
