In the embodiment of the interior design project, the foreman in charge of the field has a different background knowledge from the interior designer. The process of solving problems at the project embodiment stage is carried out by the interior designer, as the supervisor of the implementation, with alternative solutions provided by the foreman as the person in charge of the field. The purpose of this research is to find out how the foreman thinking mechanism is in solving problems related to the design that occurs, the factors that influence the thinking process, and the productivity of his thinking. The study was conducted by collecting experimental data on four interior design project implementations when periodic supervision occurred and analyzing the verbal exposure delivered by the head craftsman when providing problem solving solutions using the linkography method. It was found that in solving problems the foreman tended to recall the information received from the interior designer and the experience he had in solving similar problems, matched the conditions that occurred in the field with the expectations that were originally expected, and changed the method or system of work to be more effective without changing the design. Providing solutions to the problems depends on the direction and expectations conveyed by the interior designer. The foreman makes more use of his analytical thinking skills to process previously owned information rather than looking for new thoughts. text
