However, there has been no research on the activity and active antioxidant isolates of citronella. In this study, citronella was obtained from Subang Regency (SWA) and West Bandung Regency (SWB). This research was conducted to determine the antioxidant activity of citronella oil, ethanol extract, fractions, and isolates from citronella. Crude drugs and extract were characterized. Extraction was carried out under reflux using ethanol. The extract was monitored and fractionated by liquid-liquid extraction with nhexane and ethyl acetate solvents respectively, then the results were monitored further. The antioxidant activity of oil, ethanol extract, and the three fractions was tested by the method of reducing free radicals 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). The active fraction was purified by classical column chromatography (CC) and preparative thin layer chromatography (PTLC). The isolates were tested with several spray reagents such as citroborate, AlCl3, FeCl3, and Lieberman-Burchard. The highest antioxidant activity was shown by SWA pulp extract with an IC50 value of 346.096 µg/ml. The isolated Y and K compounds are thought to belong to a group of flavonoid compounds that have a phenol group, with a maximum wavelength of 345 nm and 307 nm. text |
