| Summary: | Travelling is an activity that is familiar to the society especially to millennials as a form of stress relief
from routinity and boredom. In this period of time, people travel in the form of backpacking where
travelling is done with strict budget. According to the phenomenon of backpacking, the existence of
hostel that is considered cheap accommodation is highly related to the activity. Hostel is an
accommodation that provides guests with dormitory room to stay in affordable price, and gives the
opportunity to meet travellers from different regions and countries. Unfortunately hostel lacks of
privacy and security that may be uncomfortable to some people. However the accommodation is still in
demand, since it fulfills the need of place for staying to those with strict budget.
In Java, Yogyakarta is a tourist destination that considered relevant to the backpacking activity, with
many potentional tourist attraction, from the culture to the nature to explore. The existence of hostel as
meeting point and a place to socialize for travellers become an important aspect to enhance the chance
of exchanging information about local tourism.
