Erosion was occurred by littoral sediment transport along shoreline in which sediment moves from one place to another place. Littoral sediment transport is occurred if waves form an angle to normal line of shoreline.<p align"justify="> <br /> <br /> Padang Beach is located between Batang Arau estuary and Banjir Kanal estuary, which are located in the west of Padang City. The main problem in Padang Beach is erosion. The erosion has caused the decline of shoreline for 67 m from its former position, and it will threaten the infrastructure that exists long the <br /> shoreline. So far, some prevention attempts have been undertaken concerning to the problem such as constructing some coastal construction in the form of seawall, revetmen and groin along the shoreline.<p align"justify="> <br /> <br /> This study investigates the shoreline change because, wich is due to the erosion by simulating the shoreline change with and without the coastal constructions along the shoreline by using Genesis Computer Software. The analysis result shows that the coastal construction are quite effective in preventing the erosion and the decline of shoreline. However, it hasn't been able to create a sandy tourism beach.<p align"justify="> <br /> <br /> The construction of breakwater, as one of prevention attemps, is not able to create a sandy tourism beach because of small sediment transport (i.e. 7,584 m3/year), wich moves from the south to the north.
