Summary: | Blasting process at PT Semen Padang is done to decrease the size of
limestone thus it can be hauled to stockpile. One of blasting agent used in the industry
is ANFO; a compound of Ammonium Nitrate (AN) as oxygen carrier and Fuel Oil
(FO) as combustion material. Diesel fuel is usually used as fuel oil. The idea of this
research is using used-oil as a substitute for diesel fuel. Ratio of AN and fuel must be
calculated thus work performance of blasting agent is as good as it initially intended.
Thus, in this research, used-oil effectiveness is analyzed to create ANFO.
Research data was separated into compound of AN and diesel fuel, AN and
used-oil also AN with diesel fuel and used-oil. Composition of the blasting agent,
blasting geometry, rock fragment and gas production will be assessed in this research.
Data will be assessed by using Split-Desktop 3.0 and correlated with Kuz-Ram
Model to obtain the value of blasting energy. Fragmentation data was obtained by
taking digital pictures from blasting fragmentation directly on the field to various
composition of ANFO. Those pictures then processed by using Split-Desktop 3.0 and
gave graphic of distribution of rock fragment sizes. Rock fragment size which is
desirable is less or equal to 30 cm as it is the maximum size of rock to get into
crusher.
Based on calculation of ANFO during mixing, it is considerable for AN to be
effectively used in these ratios; 94.5% AN and 5.5% diesel fuel, 95% AN and 5%
used-oil, 93% AN and 5.2% diesel fuel and 1.8% used-oil. The value of Y(-30cm) for
AN and diesel fuel compound also AN and diesel fuel and used-oil compound are
99.3% and 100% respectively. On the other hand, only 94.1% for AN and used-oil.
Blasting energy for AN and diesel fuel compound also AN and diesel fuel and usedoil
compound are RWS 100 and RWS 230 respectively. On the other hand, only
RWS 90 for AN and used-oil compound. Thus, used-oil is only effective in AN and
solar and used-oil compound with composition as written above. |
