Description
Summary:The advanced development in information technology has had a major impact on human life, one of which is communication. Development affects the presence of social media. The effectiveness in communicating supported by advances in information technology has not fully given positive impacts, but this phenomenon is followed by the development of methods, techniques, and objects for criminals. Criminals who use computers as breaking rule tools would find both the internet and social media provide a broad, cheap, iand ipotentially ianonymous iway ito commiti a crime. In previous studies, Chawkii (2006) istates ithat ianonymity shouldi inot ibe iused ias ia icloak ito iprotect icriminals. Also, Khanisa (2013) suggests that this matter is purposed to shape nationality attitude towards what should be done in every case. Meanwhile, in the law enforcement process, apart from proving a crime, it is vital for the police to find and pursue the criminals. Besides, Ady Alfan (2008) proves ithat ithere iis ia ipositive irelationship ibetween Anonimity andi iCyberbullying. This research examines whether the anonymity improvement in social media registration process which includes email and cellphone number registration can make the police investigation become more efficient. The potential crimes are expected to decrease by tightening emails’ authority according to personal identity, while still encouraging the freedom of expression in cyberspace.
