Description
Summary:Gas field development requires additional pipelines to optimize transmission pipelines in the gas field. The addition of the pipeline on a pipeline network can affect the performance of the existing pipeline. The effects can be disrupted flow and pressure in the network, at some stage will also affect the performance of field. Field X is a gas field. Gas from the field is transmitted to the manifold which will thereafter be transmitted to the buyer via underground pipes. From export manifold, the gas is transmitted by three pieces of pipe adjacent to the gathering station. Throughout the process of transmission, there are two other fields, Y and Z that have relatively small flow rates, combined with gas from the field X at Km 19 and Km 29. Gas flows to be sold as LNG. However, at Km 53 some of the gases flow to the scrubber to be sold to another company. In this paper will be evaluated on the addition of new pipelines when there will be a new field who want to drain the gas through transmission pipelines. The addition of this pipeline is expected to optimize the use of gas trannsmisi network without affecting the operation of other fields. Transmission pipeline network modeling is done by using simulator PIPESIMTM. The mainline which amounts will be divided into three segments according to the branch due to the additional input from other fields and also to the output branch of the scrubber. One by one junction will be tested and the results will be matched with operating conditions. When the flow rates tested resulted in an increase of pressure, and then the test flow rate will be lowered so as to meet field conditions. The simulation results show that the addition of new pipelines should be done in the pipeline which the flow rate is considered relatively small compared to the pipeline capacity, in other words the flow efficiency is low.
