Summary: | The purpose of this research is to analyse the error sources of depth measurement using Multibeam Echosounder (MBES) to meet the IHO survey standards, especially the exclusive order at varying depths and to analyse the depth error budget model with the results of field data measurements according to the IHO S-44, in particular the exclusive order. As a followthrough, this model can later be used as a consideration before conducting a survey with MBES in the field. In this research, the depth error model is made of range error, beam angle error, pitch error, roll error, sound velocity error, heave error, draught error, water level error, and seafloor slope error. All uncertainty values of the error sources will be calculated using the root-sum-square formula to obtain the depth error budget model. Moreover, the depth error model will be evaluated by the Total Vertical Uncertainty (TVU) value based on IHO S-44 6th edition. From this research, it could be concluded that the errors of range (?r), pitch (?P), and roll (?R), as follows: ?r = ± 0.01 m, ?P = ± 0.03º, and ?R = ± 0.03º, or with lower value of error can meet the IHO S-44 standard, especially the exclusive order. The result of the depth error budget model can fulfill the TVU value of the exclusive order from the field measurement data. The difference between the depth error budget model and the TVU value for the field data is around 5 millimetres. |
