Description
Summary:Surface-active agents, or commonly known as surfactant, is a kind of chemicals that lower the interfacial tension of two different liquids. Surfactant flooding is one of methods that are used in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) mechanism which aims to improve the oil recovery by reducing the residual oil saturation after secondary recovery process. In this final project, the performance of surfactant flooding technique is analyzed by doing 9-spot and 5-spot pattern injection simulation using a commercial simulator on various thickness of reservoir. The increment of oil recovery factor is the main consideration in analyzing the performance of this surfactant flooding technique. In addition, the analysis of the relation of increment of oil recovery factor with area of reservoir and the time of the surfactant injection started is done. From the simulation results it is concluded that the largest increment of oil recovery factor is obtained when the surfactant injection simulations performed on the thinner and smaller area of reservoir using 9-spot pattern.
