Description
Summary:TSF is a tailing storage facility (solid and solution tailing) the processing plant of PT Cibaliung Sumberdaya. TSF is designed to accommodate as many as 416.185 m3 of slurry waste before the tailing is processed and subsequently disposed into the river. From the analysis of the daily routine after in TSF, the gold grade ranged from 0.018 to 0.02 ppm; silver levels ranged from 0.04 to 0.08 ppm and copper grade ranged from 0.2 to 0.5 ppm. Although, gold and silver content in solution tailings TSF relatively marginal, but with the rising price of gold and silver present, recovery process to get it is very interesting to do. Curently, PT CSD has done recovery of gold and silver by using Carbon In Column (CIC), but CIC process is less selective to ion – ion base metal such as Cu, Fe, Zn, and others. So that, when the elution - electowinning process up to smelting sludge converted to bullion, have obtained by increasing base metals composition in it to 10 – 30%. A series of experiments to recovery gold and silver from solution TSF has been accomplished by using the Carbon in Column (CIC) and Resin In Column (RIC). The experiments include: experimental adsorption isotherms adsorber capacity; determination adsorber breakthrough curves; adsorption experiments TSF solution to the column to a variety of solution flow rate, the number of adsorber, pH, concentration of gold and silver in the feed solution and Total Suspended Solids (TSS) ; elution experiments with a variety of solution flow rate, concentration of NaCN, pH and temperature. From the experiment also studied the adsorption kinetics and its rate controller that goes in the column. There are 3 types of adsorber used include activated carbon, AF5 resin, guanidine resin. From a series of experiments will be studied potential and the best chance of three adsorber to be implemented in PT CSD. The results showed that resin has a capacity of adsorption isotherms AF5 (gr Au /tonnes adsorber) highest followed by guanidine resin and activated carbon. From the breakthrough curve, after 48 hours passed TSF solution to the column, the resin AF5 still able to adsorb the gold and silver while the guanidine resin and activated carbon to adsorb declining. In the adsorption experiments TSF solution, resin adsorption ability Au AF5 has a maximum of 89.64% at flow rate variation TSF solution (10 ml/min) and selective ion - ion TSF base metals in solution followed by activated carbon and resin guanidine. In variations experiment, resin adsorption AF5 still shows the quality better than the others. Controlling adsorption kinetics are dominated by pseudo first order model, pseudo second order model, linear driving force model, quadratic driving model of ions - ions solution TSF on adsorber’s surface.
