Description
Summary:As the development of the advanced fuel cycle takes us to nuclear elections as one that is used as an energy source. The choice of underground storage as nuclear waste storage creates problems due to the heat energy generated to the surrounding rocks so that there is a deep understanding of the effect of temperature on the physical properties and the mechanical properties of the rock. Laboratory testing conducted to determine the effect of heating the rock with different temperatures - depending consisting of physical properties , test the dynamic properties , and test the mechanical properties . Test rock samples used in this experiment is limestone. Test rock samples will undergo heating at a temperature of 100 ° C in a oven with a capacity of 250° C for 5 hours, 10 hours, and 20 hours and at temperature of 200 oC for 5 hours and 20 hours with the assumption that the heat has spread evenly up into the rock structure and during the test the heat in the sample is kept constant. The parameters that have been obtained during the test will be compared with the parameters in the natural state . The results showed the effect of time heating at the same temperatures and the effect of temperature in the same time which vary with the physical properties , the dynamic properties and mechanical properties of the rock sample test . Some parameters of physical and mechanical properties are used for modeling on openings and resulted in the value of Strength Factor which tends to decrease in the roof and wall tunnel.
