Summary: | Well stimulation is one of many solutions used to increase well production, weather it is in the early production
stage or in the middle stage where production starts to decrease. Acid fracturing is a form of well stimulation. It is
done by injecting some form of fluid, known as pad, to frac the formation so the acid can enter the reservoir
formation through those fracture. The acid then react with the mineral in that formation to make a permeable system
better known as wormhole so that the hidrokarbon inside the formation can flow easier to the well. After the
reaction, the next step step is called flushing, where we inject more fluid to ensure that there aren’t any wormhole
being isolated when the fracture was closed. Acid fracturing can only be applied to carbonate reservoir, such as
Limestone or Dolomite, because th acid need to react with the formation to create a wormhole.
This pper will discuss about the optimal operation plan in acid fracturing application with the design proposed by
Ben-Naucer and Michael Economides. Those designs will be simulated with software called FracCADE 5.1. the
simulation will be done using PKN geometry model. |
