<b>Abstract:<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> Conventional forest management at the past, which man activity was forest exploitation, has been failed to keep forest sustain and to increase community welfare. This failure due to top down approach and uninvolved community on planning and implementation. The impact of forest mismanagement are: regional deforestation; revenue un-equality of community and forest manager; and un-equality of hinterland and urban area (growth pole). <br /> Nowadays, there is a change of forest management paradigm as a respond of social reformation. That paradigm base on community development, known as social forestry program. The implementation of social forestry program at Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatera Province, is Membangun Hutan Bersama Masyarakat (MHBM) Program by HPHTI PT. Musi Hutan Persada (MHP) in HTI area. The main objective of this program is to sustain forest and to increase community welfare. As a pilot project, it needs to know how this program succeed in objective achievement, for effectively and sustainability MHBM program in the future. The goal at this research are to analyze factors that influence the success of program and recommendation for program effectively and sustainability in the future. <br /> This research use before - after survey methods. Data collection through interview and questioner, that collect primary and secondary data. Analyzing data use non parametric test (Mc Nemar test and Chi-Square test), descriptive statistic, and qualitative data analyze. Study areaare Desa Suiban Jeriji Kecamatan Rambang Dangku and Desa Tanjung Agung Kecamatan Tanjung Agung. <br /> Indicator study for product function sustainability are the increasing of productivity forest area and decreasing of forest fire intensity. Meanwhile indicator study for ecology function sustainability are storage of water resource and protection of fauna population. Economic indicator such as basic need fulfillment and non economic indicator such as religious need and social needs (ex. education and health) from BKKBN family welfare indicator are use to achieve community welfare increase objective. <br /> According to analysis, MHBM program implementation in area study has achieved the objective of forest sustainability, such as product function sustainability. In the other side, the objective of ecology function sustainability has not achieved. Meanwhile, for community welfare increase objective, MHBM program implementation in Desa Suban Jeriji has succeeded, but not for that in Desa Tanjung Agung. MHBM program implementation in Desa Tanjung Agung has not succeeded.<p align=\"justify\">
