PRODUSER GAS RESULT GASIFICATION OF WOOD WASTE PELLET AS A FUEL OF DIESEL ENGINE IN DUAL FUEL SYSTEM
The use of producer gas from the wood pellet gasification process was used in a dual fuel diesel generator set. The composition of the producer gas in dry basis consists of 12,46% H2, 15,46% CO, 18,12% CO2, 1,52% CH4, 52,21% N2. The composition of the producer gas as a result of the experiment sho...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/54673 The use of producer gas from the wood pellet gasification process was used in a dual fuel diesel generator set. The composition of the producer gas as a result of the experiment shows a CH4 composition of more than 1% which indicates the pyrolysis process. This was supported by the results of the ultimate analysis of char from gasification experiment, which shows the increased value of fixed carbon. The volatile matter composition of char the residual gasification was still left in the char. Wasted heat and lack of air supply were thought to be the causes of the gasification process which leads to the pyrolysis process. The producer gas resulting from the gasification process had a heating value of 3.688 kJ/Nm3. The producer gas flow rate for dual fuel diesel generator substitution in this study was varied from 0,295 Nm3/minute to 0,835 Nm3/minute. The experimental results show that the specific fuel consumption of diesel fuel decreased with the substitution of producer gas from 0,232 L/kWh in single fuel mode to 0,024 L/kWh in dual fuel mode with a load of 13,5 kW. Producer gas was proven to be able to substitute diesel fuel up to 89,84%. The specific energy requirements to produce electricity per kWh increase under dual fuel conditions. Meanwhile, the diesel generator's thermal efficiency decreased when the producer gas was substituted to the diesel motor. The thermal efficiency of diesel genset in single fuel mode reaches 42,38% and in dual fuel mode it decreased to 22,95% by calculating the rate of return. text |
