Description
Summary:Natural gas has become an alternative energy source that is used by the world for various purposes, whether industrial, residential and commercial. This is because of many benefits of using natural gas compared to other energy sources. The energy that produced by the natural gas was more efficient. Increasing number of benefits from the use of natural gas as an alternative energy lead to the more developed technology to extend the range of the processing of natural gas in order to produce a variety of useful products for the needs of many people. Now, the number of options in the utilization of natural gas have led to the need for better analysis studies of various aspects, economic, technical, and regulatory, to determine the best scenario of gas utilization from every field. A method is needed to help the owners of a gas field to determine the gas utilization that suitable in technical and regulation also economically profitable. Gas Route Calculator software can be used to help the owner of the gas field in determining the best route in the process of natural gas utilization. This thesis is arranged to discuss the best route of natural gas utilization scenario of two gas fields, the Gas Field "A" and Gas Field "B" with a backward calculation method. Determination of this method is assisted by entering the parameters of the required data such as the selling price of refined products, the initial investment cost and operation cost of facilities used, the characteristics of the gas field, and the transmission and distribution network of gas that used into the Gas Route Calculator to generate a wide choice of routes with Net Present Value (NPV) and the selling price of gas in each field. From studies conducted in this thesis, produced the best route in terms of economic, technical, and regulatory in the utilization of gas to be Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Sensitivity study also performed with the influence parameter Net Present Value (NPV) and the selling price of gas from the entire route on Internal Rate of Return (IRR) desired by investors. Moreover, Sensitivity study also performed with the influence of Capital Expenditure (CAPEX), Operational Expenditure (OPEX), and the selling price of refined products to the selling price of gas should be assigned by the owner of the gas field.
