EOR could be seen as a right step to improve the world’s energy reserve, and another advantage of EOR is that several EOR methods could be applied to the non-conventional oil field. One of the example is steamflood method that applied for heavy-oil field, which is quite difficult to produce because of its high viscosity. Field X which located in Indonesia is a heavy-oil field and its production has been helped by the steamflood method that applied in this field for several years. Field X is one of the main field to support Indonesia’s national production and still has a lot of reserve to recover. Injection of steam for heavy-oil reservoirwill help to increase the temperature, and at the same time will decrease the oil’s viscosity, so the oil could be produce economically. Beside the temperature of the steam, the injection rate of steam also has significant effect for oil production, especially when the steam injection has been done for a long time. For new areas that will be developed, estimating the performance of the steamflood and recovery factor is a crucial part for field’s plan of development. The application of Myhill and Stegemeier’s correlation to estimate the recovery factor for field X has shown a big difference from the field data. Therefore, to compare with Myhill and Stegemeier’s correlation, one equation will be made using reservoir simulation and Design of Experiment method. For reservoir simulation, first the model will be made using seven-spot injection pattern, and several parameters that chosen from Myhill and Stegemeier’s correlation and screening table of Taber Martin and Aladasani will be simulated. Parameters chosen will represent the reservoir characteristics, reservoir fluid and steam characteristics. Results from simulation will be processed using Two Level Ful Factorial Design of Experiment method to see the effects of each parameters for recovery factor. Using Design of Experiment, a regression model to predict the recovery factor is also generated.Parameters which give significant effect to recovery factor are injection time followed by oil viscosity, permeability, injection rate, steam quality, rock heat capacity and steam temperature. The regression model has R2 as high as 93%, which give high confidence level to apply this model for predicting the recovery factor using steamflood method at heavy-oil field X. text
