Summary:Drug use evaluation of antihypertensive agents in in-patient diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) in one private hospital in Bandung has been performed. The objective of this study is to evaluate the use of antihypertensive agents given to hospitalized type 2 DM patients in one private hospital in Bandung during the period September to December 2013. This study was an observational descriptive evaluative study that done retrospectively by collecting data of antihypertensive agents and antidiabetic agents which were provided in the hospital, and from medical record of hospitalized type 2 DM patient in period of September till December 2013. The number of evaluated type 2 DM patient were 67 people. Most of them were discharged from the hospital with improved condition (89.55%) and gave a positive response to the antihypertensive agents (77.61%). 58.21% of patients used antihypertensive agents in combination (combination of ARB and Diuretics was the most used) and 41.79% of patients used single therapy of antihypertensive agents (ARB was the most used). There were some inappropriate combination of antihypertensive agents (23.08%) which was combination that did not involve ACEI or ARB, subtherapeutic dose (8.96%), potential major-level drug interactions (13,43%), and potential moderate-level drug interactions (25.37%). According to this study, the use of antihypertensive drugs on type 2 DM patient in the hospital were generally appropriate. However, there were still found inappropiate combination of antihypertensive agents, and potential drug interactions.
