Without instrumentation, everyone will tend to do things with outdated and inefficient techniques. As time goes by, knowledge will certainly grow, and to support it, adequate instruments are also needed. This is also the case in the field of Radio Astronomy, where research at low frequencies was previously considered difficult to observe, but with increasingly sophisticated technology, nowadays low frequencies have begun to be of interest to astronomers. The number of astrophysical questions that can only be answered at low frequencies is one reason. The Bosscha Observatory has also started to develop low frequency radio instruments since 2008, it is noted that there are several radio instruments that have been operating until now, such as the JOVE and CALLISTO radio telescopes. In this Final Project research, the author is still continuing the development of low frequency radio telescopes but this time it is being carried out in the ITB campus environment, using an LWA antenna combined with a CALLISTO receiver, to get the performance characterization of the LWA antenna and test observations from March 23, 2021 to May 4. 2021. The process and the results have been described in detail in this final project, from the assembly process, the observation process and the obstacles that occur, to the analysis of the observations that have been obtained. The results obtained are actually sufficient to represent the performance of the LWA antenna, but there is still a need for the help of another tool that is strong enough to reduce the signal received by the antenna along with the additional gain from the FEE, so that the results obtained can be better. text |
