One of contaminant which enhance steel corrosion rate is Sulfide. Corrosion is a destructive process; therefore, it is necessary to prevent corrosion by adding inhibitor, for example. <br /> In this research corrosion inhibition of steel is carried out in sulfide containing seawater environments. The research is intended to study the influence of H2S concentration in artificial sea water on steel corrosion, and determine the optimum doses of Glutaraldehyde as corrosion inhibitor by steel corrosion rate measurement using Tafel method, and inhibition mechanism prediction using the cyclic voltammetry method. <br /> The experimental result shows that steel is readily corroded in artificial seawater. Addition of H2S to artificial seawater increases corrosion rate. Glutaraldehiyde is effective as a steel corrosion inhibitor in seawater contaminated by H2S. The highest inhibition effectiveness on steel corrosion in seawater contaminated by 250ppm H2S is 99,99%, which is obtained by the adding of 80ppm Glutaraldehiyde. Generally, the oxidation reaction of steel in artificial seawater contaminated by H2S with Glutaraldehyde addition is an irreversible reaction, with unstable product. Glutaraldehyde adsorbs on steel surface, inhibiting corrosion reaction. It is proven by decreasing corrosion product quantity. <br /> text
