INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/55083 Air pollution is a problem that is increasingly worrying nowadays because of the increasing source of pollutants such as motor vehicles and industrial waste that is discharged into the air. Air pollution has various impacts on the environment, one of which is health problems, especially respiratory problems. One way to reduce the impact of air pollution on health is to use an air filter to prevent pollutant gases that cause health problems from entering the respiratory tract. The air filter that can be used in this case is a mask, because the mask is a filter device that is easy to use and practical. The filter layer on the mask is composed of nanofiber material. Nanofiber materials can be made by various methods, one of which is using needleless-electrospinning. By using needleless-electrospinning with main materials styrofoam and d'liomenen solvent and dimethylformamide, a multi lapis filter is made as the main part of the mask. The experimental method is started by modifying the needleless-electrospinning single-input to needleless-electrospinning dua input which allows two different solutions as a filter synthesis material. The next experiment is to determine the fiber diameter because it takes two different fiber diameters to make two layers of the filter. In this experiment, several variations were made to the variables to determine the fiber diameter from the smallest and the largest diameter that could be synthesized so that filters for two layers with different fiber diameters could be synthesized. Some of the variations made to determine the diameter of the fiber are variations in the concentration of styrofoam, variations in the HV(high voltage), variations in the distance between the wire spinnerets to the drum collector, and variations in the ratio of d'liomenen and dimethylformamide solvents. Then the composition of a solution variation that produces the smallest and largest fiber diameter will be used as a layer for the filter because the filter layer to be synthesized consists of one filter layer with the smallest fiber diameter and one filter layer with the largest fiber diameter. So that the resulting filter with a better quality factor for filters with multi-layer variations with different fiber diameters for each composing layer is synthesized using a needleless-electrospinning wire spinneret. text
