One of the dangerous dyes is methylene blue. Disposal of high concentrations of methylene blue waste in water sources can reduce water quality and harm human health. Adsorption was chosen to remove methylene blue from water because its easy operation and lower cost. Adsorbent in the form of magnetite Fe3O4 based on biopolymers has attracted attention because of its ease of separation with external magnets. Fe3O4 was synthesized by green synthesis method using Moringa oleifera extract. Alginate and polyvinyl alcohol can remove cationic dyes because they contain many active sites. Alginate-polyvinyl alcohol coated Fe3O4 composites were synthesized by NaOH titration to form porous adsorbents. The optimum conditions for adsorption of methylene blue with 0.1 gram of adsorbent were reached at pH 4 and contact time of 4 hours. The maximum adsorption capacity of methylene blue with Fe3O4-Alginate-PVA composite was 198.132 mg.g-1. The adsorption was followed the pseudo second order kinetics model and the Langmuir adsorption isotherm model. text |
