Summary: | One method to characterize material is by the means of calculation of polarization of muon.
Muon that stops inside the material, its polarization {which is related to its magnetic
moment{ will change every time due to interactions with the nuclei that interacts with
it, for example dipolar, quadrupolar, and exchange interaction. The calculation is done by
using density matrix formulation, with the polarization being the trace of the multiplication
between density matrix and time-dependent muon spin operator. In this nal project the
interactions that will be used to calculate the dynamics of muon spin are dipolar interaction
and Zeeman interaction and the muon locations are octahedral and tetrahedral site in FCC
and muon stopping site in cobalt chromite spinel model crystal. The result is a plot of
muon polarization which is a function of time, and the results will vary according to the
interaction that's being considered during calculation. |
