Summary: | Diagnostic fracture injection test (DFIT) is one of well testing method that is conducted to determine reservoir parameter, for example: fracture closure pressure, instataneous shut-in pressure (ISIP), formation permeability, and reservoir pressure. DFIT prefer to be conducted in coalbed methane (CBM) reservoir because CBM reservoir has very low permeability characteristic. Therefore, pressure drawdown and pressure build-up that usually conducted in conventional reservoir are not effective to be executed.
DFIT analysis is divided into two periode, that are before closure analysis and after closure analysis. Generally, permeability is obtained from after closure analysis when pseudo-radial flow regime is reached. However, a long shut-in time is needed to reach pseudo-radial flow regime compared to injection time, so alternative method is required to estimate formation permeability. This paper discusses the before closure analysis that have been developed for determining formation permeability and in advance, demonstrating the applicability in CBM reservoir and the results are also compared to after closure analysis (ACA) |
