Summary: | Diversity is a potential and a challenge for Indonesia. Kab. Pasaman and Pasaman Barat, which
have ethnic diversity, have faced ethnic conflicts between Minang and Mandailing. Problems that
slowly disappear without a clear solution can potentially arise in the future. Kab. Pasaman
Government assisted by the Kab. Pasaman Barat Government and CSR want to solve this phenomenon
with a public space with about 6700 m2 land area consisting of commercial, educational, and spiritual
functions. The facility functions as a reconciliation space that seeks to restore and improve good
relations between the community. The project is located on Lintas Sumatra Street in Kec. Lubuk
Sikaping, Kab. Pasaman. The main users of the facility are the commons from various ethnicities. In
addition, users are grouped into students, communities, employees/management, and others
(tourists). One of the approaches used to achieve reconciliation is placemaking. The main design
problem is divided into sociability, uses & activity, access & linkage, and comfort & image. In addition,
special conditions on the land are the presence of rivers on some sides of the site. The main concept
in design is sociability which is also a design problem. The lack of interaction in society that led to
segregation was an important factor that led to conflicts in the past. In addition, the design support
concept is neutral and flexible. Social areas are located at various points in the facility as an answer to
the main concept of sociability. The spaces in the facilities both outside and inside the facility can be
used for various things depending on the user. Access flexibility is also realized by the presence of
ramps and disabled toilets. In addition, to prevent jealousy or new problems, the image of the facility
is made neutral by using the materials, composition, and scale of the roof in the vernacular
architecture. |
