The aim of this study was to make bioplastics from modified cassava starches (PS) or tapioca starches (PT) by Bacillus amyloliquefaciens ABBD with the mechanical, biodegradation, and morphological properties better than those of comercial bioplastics. Bioplastics were made from nonmodified PS (PS1), modified PS (PS2), nonmodified PT (PT1), and modified PT (PT2), each bioplastic was made with a various of glycerol concentration as a plasticizer. The results showed that the amount of polymer chain PS1, PS2, PT1, and PT2 was 11, 1083, 10, and 1078 ?mol/g. Bioplastics PS and PT were a transparent film. SEM images showed that bioplastic PS contained cellulose fiber but bioplastic PT was not. Of four tested bioplastics, easily degradable bioplastics were PS2, PT2, PT1, dan PS1, respectively. Bioplastics PS2, PT2, PT1, dan PS1 had a tensile strength of 0.0083 ± 0.0003, 0.0072 ± 0.0007, 0.0048 ± 0.0002, dan 0.0038 ± 0.0003 MPa, respectively, which the elongation values of 0.2992 ± 0.0008, 0.2524 ± 0.0004; 0.8699 ± 0.0007 and 0.2833 ± 0.0008%, respectively. Meanwhile, bioplastics PS2, PT2, PS1, dan PT1 had a modulus young of 0.4397, 0.1205, 0.1519, and 0.1089 MPa, respectively. The best bioplastic made was PS2. This bioplastic PS2 was also better than comercial bioplastics in term of mechanical properties. text
