There is a lot of attention needed in a show or performance that emphasizes telling a story without dialogue, but using other elements such as choreography, facial expressions, costume, and stage settings. In Indonesia itself also has a type of dance that is similar to ballet, known as sendratari. One of the most famous sendratari’s stories in Indonesia itself is called Sendratari Ramayana or Ramayana’s Ballet. However, visually, we can see the difference from the stage clothes used by these two types of dances which have their own unique characteristics. This research discusses the mixing of these cultures into a fusion that needs to be developed so that ballet and sendratari in Indonesia can become more familiar to the public. Surface design exploration technique used in the fashion products such as embroidery, beads embellishment, digital printing, screen printing, fabric heating, and flower corsages are used to create an impression and characteristics for each character in the Ramayana’s story. This study obtained data by literature study, interview, observation, and exploration. The design process considers colors, patterns, and functions that will combine them with more contemporary and modern concept of stage ballet costume. text
