Description
Summary:Cultures that have been passed down from our ancestors is very important to be preserved. These days, many cultures were left behind because of globalization. The capital city of DKI Jakarta is one of the centers of economic activity, many outsiders go on to try their luck. This can lead to a new culture in the capital. Since long ago, Batavia city is inhabited by Betawi people who are related economically and socially. The Betawi people have their own cultures and traditions, one of them is a traditional Betawi house which was used by the origin of Betawi people. The ownership of the traditional Betawi house gives status and identity to the occupant. It is unfortunate that at this time, the use of Betawi house construction has started to fade one by one. Kebaya house is one type of traditional Betawi house. The roof of kebaya house is a shape of folded kebaya. Changing home construction requires a lot of money, therefore this research solves the problem by making interior products inspired by the philosophy of Kebaya house. The data sources collected from the Betawi cultural unit which still actively operating today. The techniques used for making interior products are Betawi embroidery technique that can usually be seen on Betawi’s kebaya encim, digital printing technique, and a touch of manual embroidery and beading to complement.
