Summary: | The Indonesian government has recognized a new state-owned enterprise holding group under the food sector and PT. Bhanda Ghara Reksa (BGR), a logistics company, is assigned to become the holding group's leading distribution and storage provider. Currently, PT. BGR's regional division in Bandung conducts business outside the food sector and will face a product portfolio change for future demand due to this holding initiative. As demand is sure to change, warehousing in PT. BGR will need to accommodate this incoming change to maintain profits. In this study, we are looking closely at the expected changes affecting PT. BGR's warehousing in Bandung and proposing alternatives for a capacity planning strategy by applying the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) with BCOR (Benefit, Cost, Opportunity, and Risk) analysis. This study conducts qualitative forecasting and capacity utilization analysis to help identify the elements in the AHP/BCOR model.
Current capacity utilization at PT. BGR in Bandung averages at under 50%. However, forecasting results show that expected demand is at 50%, resulting in overcapacity in the projected future. The new strategy alternatives for their warehouse capacity plan include investing in a new warehouse, utilizing current warehousing, and doing nothing. The AHP/BCOR analysis determines that investing in a new warehouse is the best strategy out of the three alternatives. The results are determined by involving a panel of experts from PT. BGR Divre Bandung who prioritized cost and benefit over opportunity and risk. |
