Summary: | One of the factors causing the low quality of education in Indonesia is the learning method,
which tends to be conventional. The lack of collaborative activities carried out has an impact
on students, which they tend to grow with passive personalities. In addition, tedious learning
methods and places that require students to sit in class for hours are also one of the main
causes for the lack of enthusiasm of students while they are in school. Academic education
has an important role in the development of children's knowledge, but character education in
children from an early age also needs to be taught. Elementary school is one of the most
important educational unit level, where at that age education is held to provide basic
knowledge, attitudes, and skills which then will shape the character of the child as a good
social being and benefit both him/herself and others. Therefore, learning methods and places
of learning need to be structured and designed in such a way as to improve the quality of
children's education and learning. It is hoped that the four curricula practiced in naturebased schools can improve children's emotional, intellectual, and character abilities.
Learning is done through various activities such as experiencing, doing, and understanding
learning through the process, therefore learning outcomes can be obtained well if students
are active. In practice, the learning method that is emphasized is Action Learning, where the
participation of students as the main subject of learning activities will familiarize students
with being active and initiative, as well as training their teamwork skills. The results of this
study will produce a nature-based school interior design that can accommodate learning
activities with the Action Learning method for elementary school students. Principles,
physical and non-physical standards, as well as guidelines in designing the interior of
elementary school classrooms with environmental / natural insight will be used in the design
process because they give huge contribution to the spirit and psychological condition of
students while learning |
