Description
Summary:Nowdays, textile waste is the one of non-biodegradable materials that causes problems in environment. For solved the problem, many studies have been carried out to find a new materials that are more biodegradable and environtmentally-friendly. The development of this research is carried out through several technologies such as biotechnology which can produce regenereation of cellulose from bacteria known as microbial-cellulose. One of microbial-cellulose such SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteri and Yeast), is still ongoing developed to be produced into environmentally friendly and biodegradable textile material. Through this research, hoped the texture and new fiber of SCOBY can be used as an alternative textile material and can produced a functional textile products. This study uses experimental methods on SCOBY growth and material exploration using surface textile technique such engraving and lasercutting which can produced a product with a new fiber and texture from SCOBY materials.
