Summary: | The telecommunication system is needed to support the speed and accuracy of the flow of information in various sectors that can evenly fullfill the needs of people throughout all of the islands of Indonesia. This study aims to determine the path for the installation of submarine telecommunication cables between Belitung Island and Kalimantan, precisely in Pontianak City. The method used to determine the lines of this telecommunication cable is an analysis of the suitability of the seabed. Aspects that include depth contours, seabed slope, seabed feature, and seabed profile. From the results of data processing it is found that the survey area is 3.244.917,42 m2 that most areas are safe for installing cables is 2.937.189.41 m2 but there are some areas that are quite dangerous and risky because they are close to seabed slopes and dangerous types of seabed feature is 307.728,01 m2. In addition, an optimal submarine cable installation plan is obtained based on the predetermined sea level suitability aspects.
