Description
Summary:Sovereignty is very important for a country and territory is a spatial aspect that becomes one of the constituent elements of a country to be recognized as the subject of international law. Therefore, according to the mandate stated in the 1945 constitution (UUD 1945), the State of Indonesia needs to assert and declare the territorial boundaries of its country by withdrawing the boundaries and calculations to know the extent to which the State of Indonesia is sovereign over its rights, especially on maritime boundaries that are imaginary and invisible. However, the data published by various agencies including the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenko Maritim dan Investasi RI) in 2018 varies and is still in the form of rounding figures (Contiguous Zone Area: 270,000 km2). Therefore, it is necessary to calculate the area of Contiguous Zones to obtain a correct and more accurate area count based on existing data. Through the stage of withdrawal of the baseline, the depiction of maritime zones using buffers analysis as far as 24 nautical miles, then the process of cutting for buffered areas using the boundary lines from maritime boundary coordinates in order to form an Contiguous Zone of Indonesia following the rules of international maritime law (UNCLOS III, 1982), and the process of calculating the area. It was obtained that the results of the area of The Contiguous Zone of Indonesia in this Thesis have a different result with the reference figure from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs which is 264.791,84 km2 with a difference of 5,208.16 km2.
