A new topology of DC-DC converter called modified Cuk is proposed in this paper.
The converter is modified from conventional Cuk converter. This converter can be
used as a cell that can be applied in a variety of functions, from DC-DC converters
to DC-AC converters (inverters). To obtain low input current ripple, a multiphase
technique is used. While multilevel concept is applied to get a very high output
voltage depending on the number of cells added. The DC-AC converter can also be
formed from this topology, either having boost or buck characteristics. Proposed
inverter has minimum differential mode (DM) and common mode (CM) ripples
without extra filtering. These advantages make it suitable for many applications
such as DC microgrid systems, DC onboard systems in electric vehicle, PV
inverters, etc. A comprehensive analysis of the proposed converter is presented in
this paper. Finally, simulations and prototypes of laboratory experiments are used
to verify its theoretical analysis.
