This folklore depicts the acculturation of Chinese and Cirebon cultures, therefore, this story has cultural values and necessary to be introduced to the folk, especially outside Cirebon. This research is aimed to produce a fashion product using textile surface design technique by applying the illustration of Putri Ong Tien Nio folklore, as a way to acquaint this story to people and to raise cultural value through a textile medium, also emphasized hand-embroidery, beads embroidery, and painting techniques for creating the illustration on the textile. Fashion is chosen to address this research’s purpose because fashion is a form of self-expression, also could be functioned as a non-verbal communication medium for introducing this folklore. Additionaly, the general theme of this work is ‘Spirituality’, based on 2021/2022 Indonesia Trend Forecasting’s research by emphasizing cultural value and craftmanship technique. The approach of this research is qualitative, through literature study, interviews with credible interviewees regarding the research topic, survey through an online questionnaire, and exploration. text |
