RIPPLE ANALYSIS OF NEW SIMPLIFIED CASCADE MULTIPHASE DC-DC BUCK CONVERTER

The new simplified cascade multiphase buck DC-DC converter is proper converter for applications with large currents, high voltage-ratio, and low ripple current. One application example of the use of this converter is cathodic protection. In previous research on this converter, it has been foun...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/55578 The new simplified cascade multiphase buck DC-DC converter is proper converter for applications with large currents, high voltage-ratio, and low ripple current. One application example of the use of this converter is cathodic protection. In previous research on this converter, it has been found that the most optimal converter operates at two-cascade and four-phase. This final project is focused on analyzing the ripple on this converter. This ripple analysis is useful for determining inductor and capacitor filters value in converters. The consideration used in designing the filter inductor and capacitor apart from the ripple on the inductor is also to consider the critical inductance value so that the converter operates in a continuous conduction mode. The ripple analysis has been carried out and the validity is verified by a series of experiments. A comparative evaluation is also carried out on this converter with similar converters and it is found that the proposed converter has smaller ripple on the primary side and quite small on the output side. text
