Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and Carp (Cyprinus carpio) are the fish that are the ones in great demand by Indonesians, whether it is for consumption or cultivation. Zebrafish (Danio rerio), which is the trial animal model in this study, is believed to be able to represent the properties and mechanisms of tilapia and carp for development on a laboratory scale. The problem that often arises from the food production sector in aquaculture is the maintenance of fish health, where the increasing density of fish also increases the fish stress level. This can be a source of disease and lead to the death of the fish. The use of antibiotics in disease management has begun to be reduced due to their use which is often prohibited because it can disrupt the microbiota ecosystem inside the fish stomach. Therefore, another alternative is needed, one of which is by giving ?-glucan which is believed to help to increase the fish immune response. ?-glucans are compounds that are believed to play an important role in anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and anti-tumor properties. Hence, ?-glucan becomes a potential compound to improve the quality of life of tilapia and carp. This study aims to determine the effect of ?-glucan on the growth and development of fish and the role of ?-glucan on the immune response in tilapia, carp, and zebrafish. This research was conducted by finding out the effect of ? -glucan by using a systematic review method according to the PRISMA 2020 protocol. The databases used were Scopus, PubMed, and ScienceDirect with the deadline for publication on January 24, 2020. The results of the systematic review consisted of 12 roles of ?-glucan on the fish immune response from 15 works of literature. From this literature, we can conclude that ?-glucan has an active role as anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and can increase the activity of the innate immune system in tilapia, carp, and zebrafish. text
