ANALISIS KESESUAIAN HABITAT KOMODO (VARANUS KOMODOENSIS) DENGAN PENDEKATAN GEOSPASIAL DALAM MENDUKUNG KONSERVASI

With the increase in biodiversity, the protection for this biodiversity must be a strong commitment for a country both nationally and globally. And also, with the uniqueness of Indonesia's geological location, the region has a high level of endemic flora and fauna. The Komodo dragon is one of the endemic animals that can only be found in the Komodo National Park archipelago and its surroundings and the Komodo dragon is one of the endangered reptiles. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze their habitat to optimize conservation. Remote sensing technology can be used as a data source to support habitat mapping and ecological applications for large areas. Information related to habitat potential generated by GIS can also help balance conservation and development. With the capabilities of remote sensing technology and GIS, habitat analysis can be carried out in support of conservation of Komodo dragons using a spatial approach which is the aim of this study. The analysis will be carried out through several indexes to be made, like Komodo dragons population density potential index, small Komodo dragons food potential index, adult Komodo dragons food potential index and the identification of disaster-prone areas. Before making each index, first a literature study is carried out related to each parameter and then classification and scoring will be carried out based on existing literature studies. After the overall index is formed, a composite index will be formed as a habitat suitability index and then it will be analyzed by zoning areas in the national park area. Hopefully this study can be used as a reference or evaluation for Komodo dragon conservation process to maintain its sustainability. text
