Nickel laterite deposit is strongly influenced by the degree of weathering that causes the precipitate shape become irregular. This form is expected to be modeled and analyzed using the unfolding method so that the estimated data become more stationary when kriging method is conducted. One of unfolding method is by affine transformation. This transformation can change the surface of an irregular field into a flat plane, by determining connective points (initial coordinates and the coordinates of the projection) on the surface. From the connective points, the area of original surface in two-dimensional shapes can be found. The shape is then estimated by kriging method for every 5 m depth. The estimation results with unfolding techniques for Ni provide error variance value of 0.023 and for Fe 117.46, while the value of the error variance for folding condition for Ni equal to 0.026 and for Fe 120. From these results, it can be concluded that the estimation with unfolding technique gives better results. text
