Description
Summary:Indonesia is a tropical country that has an abundance of various kinds of flora. Various types of plants are used for many needs. Fiber plants are important plants that can be utilized, one of which is the saeh bark fiber from the saeh tree or Paper Mulberry (Broussonetia Papyrifera). The bark is one part of the saeh tree used. This research is a form of cultural preservation that is almost extinct. The creation of the work was carried out by exploring the fibers of the saeh bark and applying the sashiko technique as a background design. Sashiko is a traditional Japanese sewing technique that has been used to combine several layers of fabrics since the 18th century. The combination of several layers of fabric using sashiko aims to make clothes stronger and more durable because the price of the fabric at that time was not affordable for the workers there. The application of the techniques sashiko to the exploration of bark fibers is expected to increase the use value and aesthetic value of the saeh bark fiber which is intended for interior textile products.
