Description
Summary:Tegal is one of an autonomous region located in Central Java Province, Indonesia. In an area whose culture is heavily influenced by the Mataram Kingdom, Tegal has its own distinctive culture that grows in society. Some of the cultures that characterize the Tegalnese are Mantu Poci and Sunat Poci traditions. However, this unique local Tegal culture is starting to be forgotten by the local community and has resulted in lack of the heirs of cultural actors. If this continues, the local culture of Tegal can become extinct and Tegal loses its cultural identity. Therefore, it is necessary to have a place to maintain and reintroduce Tegal culture to society. The proposed solution is the design planning of the Tegal Cultural Center which aims to preserve the local culture of Tegal. This study discusses the interior design of the Tegal Cultural Center. The formulation of the problem proposed is how to preserve Tegal local culture and its application to the design of public facilities. This research is qualitative by using data collection techniques in the form of literature studies and interviews. The data that has been collected then are analyzed as a reference for the design concept of the Tegal Cultural Center. The design proposed for Tegal Regional Cultural Center is based on the theme 'Uplifting the Hidden Ones' which aims to highlight Tegal culture and give a deep impression to users so that it will be remembered. The area that the facility focuses on is the permanent gallery. By focusing on permanent galleries and design themes, it is hoped that this facility can make people remember Tegal culture so that it remains sustainable.
