The innovation on the generation side allows the generation of electricity by users whose locations are scattered and distributed throughout the system. Decentralized generation, which is generally renewable energy, causes changes in system conditions from time to time, starting from changes in power flow and the magnitude of short circuit currents that increase due to additional generation sources. Changes in system conditions will result in a different required protection system scheme and can cause the protection system to be unreliable, resulting in protection failure. In order for the system to remain safe and stable under any conditions, a protection system that can adapt to system changes is needed, but to make it happen, a complex communication system is needed. One solution to this problem is by designing a relay that works with one parameter whose changes are consistent with system conditions. In this research, a study of the main parameters that are consistent with changes in the distribution system integrated with distributed generation is carried out and an algorithm is made of the relay that utilizes the parameters of the previous findings. The simulation results show that voltage is more reliable than current, and the designed algorithm works accurately in determinining the type of fault that occurs text
