Description
Summary:Soft soil will give bad impact to infrastructure in Indonesia. Various method can be used to mitigate soft soil problem such as rigid inclusion, stone column, PVD, etc. This final project discusses about soil improvement using rigid inclusion to resolving organic and soft soil problem for highway construction in Padang-Sicincin from STA 4+200 until STA 5+200. The design of each road segment must fulfill the following criteria: settlement, liquefaction mitigation, and slope stability. Evaluation of the axial stresses induced on the piles and necessity of rebar must also be conducted. Design of rigid inclusion start from soil data processing, calculating initial total settlement, calculating the potential for liquefaction, calculating safety factor of slope stability, and design of reinforcement. Evaluating for settlement and liquefaction using finite element method such as MIDAS GTS NX with axisymmetric and plane strain modelling. Safety factor of slope stability evaluated with strength reduction method. Evaluating for liquefaction potential using NCEER method (1998). Furthermore, liquefaction mitigation using empirical method from Baez and Martin (1993). Based on evaluation, all zones already satisfy the safety factor of slope stability. Serious problems that occur are settlement and potential of liquefaction Design configuration of rigid inclusion used is a square pattern, diameter 0,42 m, 15 m depth, 2 m spacing, and 0,4 m LTP thickness for entire zones.
