Our eyes were created to see when exposed to light. Without light, humans will not be able to see and know the conditions of the surrounding environment. In addition to human daily life, light also plays a major role in architecture. Light is an element that must exist in architecture to show the form of architecture. In addition, light also plays a role in creating a spatial sensation of space. Light can easily and quickly change the appearance and effect of space sensations that affect a person's emotions. In this thesis the author tries to explore and explore the potential of daylight as a determinant of sensation of space. Daylight is used because it has a different effect compared to artificial light. Spatial sensations that are influenced by daylight can be divided into two, namely calming and exciting. Calming has indicators of low light contrast, indirect light, and uniform light. While exciting has indicators of high light contrast, direct light, and ununiform light. To measure the spatial sensation, the author uses a digital image-based contrast level measurement method. The author uses daylight based simulation software Velux to obtain rendering images of daylight conditions that are close to conditions in the field, then calculated it using histogram in image editing software to determine the contrast level of the image. From the simulated spaces with a calming sensation can be achieved at all simulation times and all sky conditions. Meanwhile, a room that is conceptualized as having an exciting spatial sensation can only show exciting sensation at certain times, namely at 12.00 noon with clear sky conditions. text |
