Summary:Climate change brings global change in potential disaster in Indonesia. The problem of disaster education is modern life that less attention to live with harmony with nature, especially in disaster risk reduction and mitigation phase in Citarum River watershed. This research explores the communities in the hydrometeorology disaster prone area as the people who live in disaster-prone area that expected to be able to recognize natural phenomenon in their living space and reduce the risk of disaster. Disaster mitigation social campaign should encourage people to access knowledge that related to disaster as life skill in order to overcome the crisis in the hydrometeorology disaster prone area, as well as strengthening local wisdom related to disaster. The research objective is to develop concept and design disaster mitigation strategic campaign media to become an impact on people's awareness of their living space by participatory design at protagonist community to produce knowledge, inventory of the potential of the local culture in disaster education. Participatory Acto Researchas methods are used to explore the context of the place, time and media in various educational media related to develop Participatory Design in the community which are giving awareness of mitigation. The communication media and design that related to hydrometeorology disaster mitigation produced and distributed by using the Sociotagging Model, which is participatory design activity to produce disaster literation in the protagonist community. The design proposed lead to recommendations to design of site-specificdisaster mitigation educational media. The development of technology that user-friendly enables opportunities in optimizing the education of disaster mitigation. The results of the research recommended as participatory modelto designsite-specific disaster mitigation and education with the use of visual communication media. The model enables the protagonist community to develop disaster literacy independently and also to raise awareness of living space in disaster-prone areas in Citarum watershed.
