Description
Summary:Body scrub is a cleansing product that contains granules that remove dead skin cells. The most common ingredients used as body scrub base are fatty acid and fatty alcohol. This study aims to see the characteristics of fatty acid and fatty alcohol in body scrub. Body scrub is made by mixing the water phase and oil phase. Oil phase contains fatty acids, fatty alcohols, and emulsifier. Water phase contains water, preservative, and surfactant. This study consists of variations of fatty acids, fatty alcohols, and their combination. The body scrub bulk was evaluated for pH value, viscosity value, stability, compability, and sensory test. The best formulation found is 75% stearic acid and 25% cetyl alcohol that has skin pH number, great physical characteristic, great product sensory, and stability. This research is expected to have an impact on the use of palm oil for downstream products such as chemurgy products so that it has a higher added value and improves Indonesia's domestic products.
