This requires support of smooth production process. One of the supporting is production machines. To maintain the good condition of the machine with high availability, it is necessary to carry out effective and efficient maintenance activities. This research deals with the maintenance and inspection policy carried out for a Table Lifter machine which is considered as a critical machine in a Painting Shop of PT XYZ. Currently, a maintenance policy performed by PT XYZ consists of preventive, corrective and inspection, but up till now performance of current maintenance and inspection policy has not been evaluated – whether it is an optimal policy or not. This can be seen from failures frequency and downtime of Table Lifter machine is huge and total maintenance cost is high. The aim of this research is to find the optimal maintenance and inspection policy of the Table Lifter machine that will minimize total maintenance cost while maintaining the stability of machine availability more than 98%. In this research, these two models (Marquez model and Jardine model) are considered as reference models due to they are appropriate to represent the problems faced by PT XYZ. The maintenance and inspection model developed combines two models to describe the uniqueness of the maintenance policy in PT XYZ, in which the policy includes both inspection and preventive maintenance. Furthermore, the optimal solution for the developed model is obtained by using an enumeration approach - i.e., by evaluating various inspection intervals to obtain the optimal interval solution. The main contribution of this research is a mathematical model developed for the current inspection and maintenance policy of the Table Lifter machine to evaluate the current policy. The result shows that the optimal solution for the Table Lifter machine inspection interval is three months (the current interval is one month). The developed model can also be applied to other machines with the similar conditions and restrictions. text |
